Cobra Lily Foliage (For my File)

Cobra Lily Foliage (For my File) (Darlingtonia californica (Cobra Lily))

Not a lily at all. The foliage on Darlingtonia, a Carniverous plant, gives the plant its name of Cobra lily. It is in a pot in the bog garden, except for the photo.

Siris

I doubt it , but uses a lot of energy when it does , but yours was bought as a pot and not bare rooted so would of been fine thinking about it ...

I didn't know Carniverous plants were sold bare rooted. That must be difficult as they like to be moist all the time.

They use damp kitchen towel and normally wrapped in clingfilm or in a plastic bag , all mine apart from one was bare rooted when I bought them, same with the 10 named Venus flytraps that arrived yesterday which I have now potted up (photo soon) .

I am sure they will increase in size radiply for you in your green house.
I am surprised how slow the squat Sarracenias have been to start producing pitchers this year, outside. Only just started, but the tall ones have flowered and the pitchers great.
Think I will keep the squat ones under cover much longer next year.
Also you said watch out for slugs and snails, not seen any but something particularly likes bellii.

Hi

Have a look inside the pitcher I have found slugs hiding away many times ...... Only found one this year luckily.

Venus Flytrap 'B52' & 'Great White Shark' already have traps open ....
