Such a beautiful tree...it's grown quite a lot since last year.

Pretty flowers.

Lovely, aren't they. I went to buy a 'Paul's Scarlet' which has red flowers, and the Nursery told me that I'd like this one even better...and I certainly do! :-)

Such a beautiful colour. How tall is it now?

Barbara this is weird, we have just bought 3 Paul's Scarlet !! I hope they will look as good as this one, they have not flowered yet so can not tell, it is a very pretty tree, it was very difficult to know which one to chose.

Yes, I agree...but I do like the white centres. :-))

Pip - this is its third year in, and it must be about 10' tall, I suppose.

It is beautiful, I do love the Hawthorns!

So do I!

Good enough to eat, a bit like Rasberry Ripple and all those buds, my goodness, you'll be feasting on that lot when they are all out

LOL....

lovely. mine hasn't flowered yet either. Can't remember what it is...probably paul's scarlet, that rings a bell. No flowers this year though..:(

Oh - any idea why? Too new/small?

27 May, 2010

Too new I hope!

27 May, 2010

I can't remember if this flowered in its first year - I 'think' it had a very few flowers - just enough to make me pleased I was persuaded to buy it. :-)

I fear too much shade may prove to be my problem....we shall see....perhaps it is not too big to move in the winter....it's about two and a half metres.

27 May, 2010

Mine isn't in full sun all day. Karen. I suppose it gets about half a day, if that.

27 May, 2010

mmm...mine is on the same bit as the shed so not much sun at all. First thing in the am and last thing in the evening only.

27 May, 2010

Sorry for the delay - my RHS book says 'full sun or partial shade'.

27 May, 2010

Hmmm thanks. i think I will leave it another year before I decide whether to move it....

27 May, 2010

Yes - I reckon it should be OK, as long as it isn't in full shade all day.

27 May, 2010

Thanks for looking it up for me! :))

You're welcome. x

What else?

See who else is growing Crataegus laevigata (Midland hawthorn).

See who else has plants in genus Crataegus.

This photo is of "Crataegus laevigata 'Crimson Cloud'" in Spritzhenry's garden
