Whoo Hoo! Angela, I have just ordered a proper Quince tree. I'm going to train it on my South facing Patio house wall and hope for some fruit! I bought some Quince jelly recently and it was so good....I want to see if I can grow my own. There is a superb one in Edinburgh botanic gardens...free standing....so against my wall it has a chance I think. Very excited as the blossom is stunning on a quince tree.

Thanks Annell and Wildrose.
K have you ordered a Cydonia and is it a grafted one? which variety did you go for? I would think training it on wall will be ideal.

It's 'Vranja' and it's max 3.5m so it must be grafted on to a dwarfing root stock. It arrived today...an absolute beauty and a great shape for the wall too. :))

Perhaps you should put some in the tiny taster pots and sell them at your open garden day. Never tasted quince jam!

Brilliant K, a good choice.......
Siris unfortunately it will never last that long.....could have done with more fruit, still there is always next year, and a splendid idea of yours to sell it......we are doing something very different next year, opening in April and serving homemade soups only with crusty bread and cheese loaf! never been done before, thought we would give it a go!!
