I have no way to know, Plantaholic! The last owners of the house acquired it in the early '60s and he was a keen gardener, so I'm supposing that he planted it...
...the house has been here a lot longer, tho'.....

Karen I've just Googlemapped Charente ('cos I didn't know where it was in relation to the sea) and realised that my daughters haven't been too far from you this last week, on holiday in La Rochelle!
Yes, they had a great time and brought me back some local Honey! :-)
