Thanks Milky , would you like some seeds ?

Are they easy to grow from seed? Would you sow them now for next year? I'm never sure, because some seem to require a cold spell before they germinate.

I couldn't tell you Poodle I haven't tried it before ,according to my book you sow seeds in a gentle heat in the spring , so when mine have seeds I will save some to try to grow ... If I have some seeds that look viable I will let you know .....

Thank you! I'm still a novice. Got some Polyanthus seeds in the fridge at the moment. It said to keep them there for 4 weeks, before trying to get them to germinate in gentle heat. I've had to pre-chill delphinium seeds before, as well, so I just wondered, if Astrantias are the same. (Hope my hubby realizes the contents of the spread container are not "Utterly" what they were before;-))

Lol .. I think you had better put a Scull & Crossbones on it Poodle ! he might think it's chocolate spread :o)

I think I could use that to my advantage. If it put him off chocolate for good it would all be mine in the future....mmmmmh;-) Saying that, I think he's safe enough, as I have to remind him to eat. He keeps forgetting. How is that possible???

Ive got one of those types Poodle, lives on a piece of bread and honey when Im not around...and when I ask him what shall we have for lunch/dinner he says "not fussed, not hungry". This is annoying really cos i) I have to keep deciding and after fifty years of cooking its boring and ii) I forget mealtimes too lol! Mind you he scoffs it when I do cook!!!
These astrantia are really such dainty plants I love em too. Last year I bought 3 dried roots in a box from Tesco. They have all grown, but they took a long time to get going. Its a lovely picture Amy, very appealing.

Lovely pic Amy . . . do you know which one this is? We've got Astrantia 'Shaggy' in flower at the moment: love it because it comes back year after year!

Sorry Sheila I've no idea This was given to me ages ago !
Tet I get annoyed when they won't say what they would like for lunch etc. , you have to make their minds up for them :o(

I havent come up with an adequate response for "anything will do"...not that's allowed on here anyway!!!

Lol .. wouldn't it be nice if just for once they had something on the table for you ?

Dont hold your breath! However, it has happened to me once or twice..but its always sausages, either with beans and mash, or veg..he's good at veg and mash! (he cooks the sausages in the oven so he can watch them go brown without burning them).
Give me Astrantia any day!

Tet, I've only been married for 8 years and have to go through a whole list of things, just to hear, that he doesn't fancy it. There's no rhyme or reason. Mind you he occasionally makes lovely Jamie Oliver dishes for me, really fancy, and I love to eat them. So I shouldn't complain. I bet you're a lovely cook too!

Plain Jane cook Im afraid Poodle. I actually made beef stroganoff the other day...frightened myself to death!!

Lucky you Poodle men are much more able to look after themselves these days.
Tet if I'm ever ill my hubby always goes to buy a piece of Haddock he can just about put that in a pan and simmer it for a few mins.served up with a couple of potatos I always know what i'm going to get without asking Lol ...

My OH said he "isn't interested in cooking", but I said it would be brilliant if I could have ONE NIGHT A WEEK OFF, and it wouldn't matter what he made. So he started to make omelettes, then a cheesy/tomato on toast thingy, then baked potatoes. I meant it when I said Anything, and it's fantastic to have one evening when I don't have to think about cooking.

So I'm glad I asked nicely; but he is retired which helps. :)

I agree Sheila , you don't mind what you have so long as you don't have to do it yourself and you enjoy it so much more ...

10 Jun, 2011

I agree too, after all, they have been saying it for years LOL!!
