Auriculas

Auriculas

I'd love to be successful with these little old-fashioned beauties and be able to boast a whole bed of them in the spring. However, they do not like me. These bloomed one spring and then proceeded to depart permanently. A sad example will appear now and then.

Aw....how about an old fashioned Auricularium (I think that's what they're called)
like a series of wooden steps. You keep them potted up and on display.

That's a good idea of Janey's ~ To display in pots.
Sometimes those arrangements are called
Auricula Theatres.

This is a lovely close-up photo.
Well done, Lilycoton. :o)

Yes, the colours of the Auriculas really show up when placed in those special Theatres. Beautiful flowers. :o)

Hi Lilycoton,
I too have had trouble growing these. They are lovely when you get them and then very few flowers. I read a lot about them and it appears one must separate them out every year - not big clumps - into separate small plants and then they flower. Whenever you see them at a show they are always small plants. I'm afraid I'm too idle to keep doing this! Also the ones you see at shows are grown under cover in a cool greenhouse. I love them but they need a lot of effort!

An excellent photo .

I have to say I can grow them well and come back every year.

So much so I just had to top up my collection with some fresh new ariculas.

Be good if we could cross them ourselves and develope a new aricula.

One can dream:)
