Penstemmon Phoenix "Lavender"

If regularly dead headed, penstemmon flower from mid June to the first hard frosts . They're fairly winter hardy in mid latitude UK but I find it best to plant them 2-3 inches lower in the ground than they were in the pot to give additional frost protection. This way if the top foliage is killed they often resprout from the base . They take very easily from 4-6 inch semi ripe cuttings from August to the end of September . This plant has a final height of about 75cm and spread of 50 cm

I have a Penstemon similar to this colouration Anchorman. It has given a wonderful display for weeks on end. I have some cuttings in water on the kitchen window ledge.....just to see what happens. and some in a shady corner in a big pot with fingers crossed. I'm not all that successful with cuttings, forget them or neglect them or whatever.
