Does he turn into a lovely butterfly? Stinging caterpillars wonderful what fun I could have with them.Sent Hywel a singing caterpillar.

I have to admit, if it did turn into a beautiful butterfly, I would have a little more patience with it, but it turns into a tiny, brown, nondescript moth. I curse everytime I see one..., because that means I've just been stung again..lol. They hide out on the underside of leaves, you never know they are there until they've stung you.
Bonkers, tell me more about this singing caterpillar, so I can quit thinking about my throbbing finger !

Well a long story but if you check Hywels ( Blodwyns) pics you ll see a photo of a caterpillar crawling up his shed.I ve been sending bugs down to Spritz and Grenville ( another story !) so got accused of sending this to Hywel. You still with me?

Told him it would turn into Katherine Jenkins a well known welsh opera singer . To give him something to look forward to and prove that I m not always mean with my bugs.

Eden had it's snake...and lucky you, you have stinging caterpillars...are they venomous? or just annoying? Sure is an exotic looking creature...are the spines on his frills the stingers? Man, he sure has a bunch of spines! would be hard to avoid making contact with them for sure! I imagine that raccoons and skunks would not want to eat him...so what's his main predator?

21 Sep, 2008

Yeah Lori, their loaded with them and the venom is in eacha and everyone of those little spines. The venom isn't deadly, It feels like a bee sting. As far as predators goes, I don't know that they have any, other than me...lol. I know I'm about to make some people mad, but, lets just say, I'm not too kind to them when I find them. Enough said !

I know what you mean...and believe me I appreciate the urge to "punish with extreme prejudice"~~ It's a little like trying to find something good about mosquitoes or fleas...LOL.

I see where it gets its name from and ouch! Poor you. As if there are not enough dangers in the garden already lol! I too am inclined to use extreme prejudice in the case of pain!

Oh Jess you seen Marguerites garden ? She got some truly scary things there feel such a wimp in the UK when our biggest threat are wasps.
Marguerite would probably have them as house guests compared to her other visitors!
