tulip Van Tuberten's optical illusion

Took some photos of my mini-tulip Van Tuberten’s . These flowers are red:

but when I uploaded the pictures from my camera …

I actually went out to check that they hadn’t changed colour without me noticing! But they were still all-red
The pictures were taken on different days, so it’s not a one-off phenomenon.

And it’s not just the mini-tulips – some of the “normal” ones had the same effect. But only the red ones!

(Mind you, I wouldn’t at all object if they really were bi-coloured like this)

I bet they aren't shining like this today....well, not if you have the same horrible, dark, wet weather we have!!!

It's sunny here, so they might be, if they'd not fallen now, or mostly. Had some rain last night, which was good - :) I'd asked for some rain, because it's April and my back garden water-butts were already more than half empty!

They are pretty, either way Fran..I do like those....
Did you have the flash on? if so, I wonder if it could be that? We have had lots of rain too,but the afternoons have been sunny..my water Butts are the same..

Our new water butt is full and overflowing. It filled up fully in one day of rain...I've used a few can fully and now it's overflowing again...although, it's only a compact(100 ltr) one.

The flash is on auto, Bloomer, and it was briht sunlight, so did'nt engage. must have been a sunlight effect, but they were still all-red when I looked at them while taking the photo and afterwards when I went back out to check. Maybe the camera's seeing into a secret spectrum ...

@ Paulspatch - I've got 2 x 100 litre butts at the front and another two at the back; the front ones hardly get used (thinking of getting one moved and added to the collection at the back!) but I've been doing a lot of planing and repotting, both of which need watering in. and I'm moving a lot of plants to containers, so I can work out a plan for the garden as a whole,a nd they need extra watering, too.

shee, if i use this much on "pottering" what's going to happen when I need to water the whole garden?? i'll have to do a rain dance every other day!

ps, welcome back! I know what you mean about your old garden - i got a bit depresed at my old flat, seeing everyone's lovely garden, real gardens, and all I had to show was a couple of containers on a box!

Thanks Fran.......I still go back to our old area(approx 17 miles) to look after my customers' gardens and today I looked at my old garden....I could've cried. They obviously haven't cut the grass yet and it's a large front garden lawn.Patches are nearly 2 FT high. There are still no weeds but that's just a matter of time, I think. Things that have been blown over in the winter are still laying all over the place! I shall have to avert my eyes in future to avoid upset!!.

oh, that's sad. maybe they can't pysically cut the grass, but picking up windblwon objects can't be that much. and there are plenty of gardeners around, I know, I've got one and had offers from two others!

I went past again today and the grass had been cut...I was quite relieved !
One of the neighbouts told me they had some people there doing it yesterday afternoon from the local MIND group.i suppose the new owners are too busy, being youngsters who work full time but, at least they've had it done now. There were 6 people there doing it , evidently.A bit overkill if you ask me!

I had a bit of the same prob here. The grass was cut before I actually moved in, but it grew back, of course; i did'nt notice how tall it was getting, it did'nt happen overnight, and was taken aback when I did realise. All I had were kitchen scissors! and hacked a bit with those, but then bought some lightweight shears from/via Amazon. Next day I found a gardener, who's got a motor mower, so no probs now. But shudder to think of hte work I'd have had if he'd not turned up.

The tulips look fantastic with that trick of the light Fran. Glad your butts are working Ok too. Some roofs collect more water than others I suppose.

this place is semi-detached, maybe I'm collecting mext door's rain as well! they don't have any butts out, at least at the front, so unless there's a divider at the boundary line, I'm definitely collecting their rainwater from the front gutters.
