Still needing rain

Well, after four days of evening thunderstorms, I hoped the stream would look better.
However, not a hap’orth of difference; it’s lower now than I’ve ever seen it.
The trout are resticted to a few deeper pools and even the crayfish are having problems.

The photos show just how low it is, compared to my original ‘logo’ of April 2008.

Like you, we have a stream around our house...or not...

Poor fish, it's not normal is it? Here too in the south of England, could do with some rain, don't have a stream with fishes but a garden which is begging for water every night and all the watering is a bit useless. I think our temperatures are a bit lower than on the continent, but at least you've had some thunderstorms with a few drops of rain, we've had practically nothing. Not where I live anyway. So let's hope for a wet June - on second thoughts not too wet.

Karen.....We had late evening thunderstorms last week but really need a week's 'solid' rain to help the mill-stream.
Titchy...We moved to Wimborne in 1975; just in time for two really dry summers. If memory serves the government created a 'drought minister' in september 2006 and it started raining straight away; maybe Cameron could try that?

We've had only one night of rain here since Feb...other parts of the region are already on red irrigation restriction, although we are still ok.

I suppose I am lucky, in that Charente has the highest rainfall, along with the 2nd highest number of hours of sunshine in France, so when it comes down - it comes all at once and can cause flooding within a matter of hours...

Having said that, I am still praying for rain and really hope that you too get as much as you need.

Well, the imminent Bank Holiday seems about to live up to usual expectations, cool and wet. For once we may not be complaining. Lol
