New Garden

Hello Everybody. I only discovered this wonderful site yesterday, & have spent hours going through all the beautiful garden pics. I have gained a lot of inspiration. I live in the North Island of NZ & have just recently bought a 1910 weatherboard villa on a quarter of an acre section, which has virtually no garden at all. So we are really starting almost from scratch & have just put in our first rose (the climber Veilchenblau) & dug up our first small garden bed, & planted it up with Hidcote lavender & a daphne shrub. Put in a wisteria Black Dragon a few days ago, which will be trained over an arch which is the entrance into our back garden area. Lots of ideas … I want to give this lovely old house the romantic garden it deserves, with a touch of whimsy thrown in here & there. Looking forward to seeing more pics as they are put up.

How exciting! Starting a new garden from scratch sounds like heaven to me! Welcome to GOY from an Aussie just across the water and slightly to the north. I'll be looking forward to seeing the photos of your garden that you're about to create on your quarter of an acre. It sounds like you're already on the way to creating a very pretty cottage-garden like space.

Yes Dwyllis, (interesting name) that is a Laburnum, which gave a good show again this year. A lot of failures too, weather I believe, my excuse anyway.
Welcome, hope you get some tips.
