Parakeet update

I did a short blog on this little parakeet and how it had been miss treated I thought you might like to know how it is getting along
I have taken it to the vets and the good news is that its wing is not broken The vet seems to think that it could be an old wound which has not been treated. So as the wing is trailing and getting in the way the vet has taped the wing up. ( and given me tape to replace it when the bird pulls it off and I will add its a two man job as the bird has a good bite on it) The vet said to keep it on for two weeks and then to see how it is when the tape comes off. The bird itself has calmed down a lot it is not as nervous as it was when I first bought it home, so fingers crossed that when the tape comes off it will be ok. These parakeets are called Bourkes parakeet and they have a lovely nature and are very quiet. Poor little thing did no one any harm. Some times people make me so angry.

Pleased to hear the news about the parakeet it is good that he has calmed down ,he must know he is in safe hands.

That's great news Donnah....I hope he'll continue to calm down and do less of the pecking! You've sure looked after him well and I hope the two weeks of bandages does the trick. Thanks for the update.

Good luck with the little mite, they are so loving, intelligent and mostly kind unless they don't like someone that it!! My neighbour had a parrot who decided I was it's best friend, she was offered to me but I don't like caged birds so declined. I have the most wonderful photos of her though. Well done with your good work.......x

Yes I agree I dont like caged birds My avairy is a good size and its lovely to see the birds flying. Pansy not sure what to call the little bird yet

That is brilliant news Donnah,and so glad the poor little thing is feeling calmer.I totally agree,these kind of people should be strung up,and banned for life to keep any animal or bird.I don't have a pet myself,but have had in the past,and it is really upsetting to see what a so called'civilised' society can do ...Thanks for the update...:o)
