Flash floods and storms

Unfortunately we have been having the same sort of weather in Brussels. My cellar was flooded with half a meter of filthy water. The young couple who live across the road had almost two meters of water in theirs and another old couple had about a meter. We were all out over the weekend sorting stuff out and putting in insurance claims! We had more storms last night and we are just about to get another – it’s gone very black and there is a lot of rumbling not too far away. The photos have just been ataken – it’s 09.55!

It's certainly not normal! That storm has now just about gone through, so I'm off back down to the cellar to squeegie out - again!! The one saving grace is that it is the cellar and not the house. It makes one appreciate just how awful it really must be for the poor souls whose actual homes get flooded.

My parents used to get their cellar flooded often when I was a child. There are new defences against it now. I remember looking out my bedroom window one rainy day to see a rowing boat go by!!! Hope things get better for you.

Thanks all. The second storm was not quite as heavy so the flooding not so bad - for me anyway! Hopefully that's the last.
