The Garden 2nd July 2011

Just thought I would add a few pictures of the garden at the moment. We installed the water feature last year and have just added a couple of stepping stones to enable us to get to it to clean and add a little character. The planting does need to fill out but we are very pleased with it so far.

Me and hubby both love the bamboo and it is doing really well, although we have found a couple of large shoots, one of which was going under the fence to the neighbours. We have mixed feelings about the bamboo as to whether we should be worried about it or not, it is Phyllostachys Nigra (black bamboo) and we have not restricted its roots (at the moment). It has been in 12 months.

Although we still have lots to do, including a new border along the bottom of the garden, here are a few pictures of the best bits!

Looking up from the bottom of the garden, East facing border.

Same border from patio, cut back the cornus, sambucus (in pic above) and cotinus in spring, and all are growing back and filling out nicely.

Other side, west facing border.(below)

The planting does need to fill out and most of the planting apart from the larger shrubs is new so still lots to do and probably lots of changes to be made, but at least progress is happening!!

Thanks for looking! :^)

Just having a look round your lovely garden Dl, how neat it all is. I love the gentle colours, beautiful. Is that your neighbours garden behind your west border or open land? it gives a lovely backdrop to your garden :-)
