I want to build an archway leading from the 2nd tier of my garden to the 3rd and so creating a secret place by my pond, I like natural looking things ….or recycled things like the wrought iron gate Stroller used as a backdrop. Want it to look as though it has have been there for ages …any ideas anybody. I have bought already a Jasmine to grow up it and have on order a Lady Boothby Fuschia.

If you know someone who is coppicing hazel, long rods tied together at the top would look very natural. Is this what you had in mind?

Has anyone been coppicing trees near you, you could use the branches to make an arch with - Oh and I are doing this at the moment will put some pics on when its finished.

Thanks Stroller that sounds like a good idea. Have just spent the weekend at Rhos-on-Sea in Wales were a lot of coppicing was going on shame I had no room in the car. I like the sound of Hazel rods also Andrewr will be doing a surf on the web to see what I can find.
