We’re getting a new Garden!

Work started yesterday on our landscaping and guess what? Yes, you guessed it….yet more rain!

Saturday I moved all my plants around to the front of the house, out of the workmen’s way. So now the front of the house is a little potted sanctuary!

The back is a total mud bath! But that’s ok. We man require some extra drainage, but it’s getting done. I was let down by my paving supplier so have had to give up 9n my dream of red terracotta paving bricks. Sometimes you just can’t have what you want. I’ve found an alternative with a more multicoloured effect which I do like, and more importantly, it was available! So they should be delivered Monday.

Wouldn’t it be marvellous if Spring could just turn up and give us a few dry days? It blew a gale here yesterday…again. Everyone seems fed up and miserable wherever I go now, and I don’t blame them. The good thing is I am certain that if we could just have a few days of some sunshine it would all be right again!

I do like the pansy, very unusual.
It's a positive to start on the landscaping despite this unremitting foul weather. Onward and upward!

Thanks SBG. It was disappointing, but it will be for the best in the end.

Didn't rain yesterday in Plymouth, was starting to worry that they might have to introduce another hosepipe ban, phew, need not have worried as it is hammering it down again today. Hopefully though Karen, we all get a bit of a break from it and allows you to crack on and get your garden how you want it to look

Oh I do hope so Davey. I think the next 2 days will be ok.

Oh dear. But the weather is bound to get better for you soon, Karen, it is Spring after all.
Your last picture took me back to our own build, in 2018. They started in January, clearing everything, then laying patio, path etc. in the face of freezing rain, hail, snow and fierce winds. They needed a lot of hot tea. My OH asked Sam if he ever felt he’d chosen the wrong job. “Every winter!” was the reply. They finished in mid April. I’m sure yours won’t take so long …

Ooh Sheila! They reckon ours will take 3 weeks! So far, so good.

The weather has truly been against you Karen as it has with all of us but I do now hope that things will improve. Hope you had lovely sunshine yesterday to lift your spirits.

We did Chris! And again today. I’ll give it a few more before I start complaining it’s too hot!

Oh crikey, I do hope it improves for you, Karen. The weather has been so wet and we need some long dry spells!!!! I’m sure as you say, it’ll all work out as planned in time.
Surely, we will see an end to the ‘never ending’ rain and dreariness. We have had a few nice days, with mild warmish temperatures…sporadically though.
By summer, it’ll look so pretty and just as you had planned..

Thanks Kate. It has dried out well over these three dry days, and the landscapers found and unblocked the field drain that the builders put in. After that you could see the water running away like a stream! So that should make a big difference now.

So pleased you're on your way now Karen, and the blocked drain was sorted. You'll soon be planting up, how exciting!
