We live in the Scottish Highlands, the property was built on sand and rock, and every bucket of soil had to be fetched in, every year I put about 6 tons of farm yard manure on the garden, so it is rich and well drained. The area is windy and I have tried to make the garden enclosed and sheltered as best I can,... I dont call myself a gardener, I couldnt name many of my plants, I try to use common sense, and do my best to give the plants the best conditions I can, I like the `jungle` feel to a garden, no straight lines, plants are packed in, its a natural feel which I like, but in the weather we often get, they are able to look after each other, with no stakeing,...and I am pleased with the results we have achieved in the last 5 years
