An Evening Wander

Just been for a wander around my small garden this evening, taking a few pictures as you do, and thought I would show them to you.

Hypericum

Sweet Williams & Schizanthus

Rockery & pots

Acer & Hypericum

View towards house

Red Astilbe

Cream Astilbe

A Pink Patch…

Left side of Garden,
And to finish a lovely Begonia I couldn’t resist while away for a few days. No name on it.

The Red Astilbe by night light looks a little too pinky. It was kindly sent me by Bloomer, thank you, but name escapes me.

Hi Sandra. Thank you, and thanks for reminding me of the name of the astilbe. It doesn't really look that colour, just a lovely dark red, as its supposed to be, its probably a combination of my camera and evening time.

Hi Terra. Glad you like it. Not as neat as yours I venture to say.

I've been working on fencing non-stop for about a month, which means gardening work has had to take second place ... so your gardens are far more tidy than mine !

Very pretty arrangement of pots and planting Cinders. The Astilbe is a wonderful colour. It is true that digital colours are not always true in some pictures but it still looks gorgeous.

It looks so pretty, love it all, wish I could get Astilbes to grow in my garden, I have one which survives but never seems to do much for me.

Oh dear Terra, always something to do isn't there. Hard when you are on your own to keep it together.

Michaella thank you, there is too much going on in there really, but still, no room for weeds !

Holly, thank you, worth the effort when people say nice things.

Dorjac, I'm glad you like my pots, there are so many now the problem is where to put them ! I really will have to 'bite the bullit' and dig a few old plants out, then I can move the others into the garden. I'm sure I could find new homes for them - in someone else's garden !

Oliveoil my Astilbes have been in pots for a while, but have them in the garden this year, hope they will survive. The pink one was getting so big, it was potbound, so it had to go in the garden. The cream one is new this year. Shame you cant grow them, perhaps you should try one in a pot.

Not thought of trying them in a pot, that is a good idea, thanks for the info. :O)

Oh that's looking lovely Sylvia, I love the yellow Hypericum and mine is slowly gaining height! Love the flowers on your huge Hostas. I have Astilbes in pots but am wondering if they may be getting pot bound now - note to self - check them out before the Winter frosts! :o)

Thank you Shirley, the thing to remember is that Astilbes like it damp, so I have mine planted where it doesn't get full sun.

30 Jun, 2014

Same here, they don't get sun until about 3pm.

Lovely garden and nice pics. I've been looking to put a name to '' Hypericum '' for a while now, they are in a few gardens around here and look fantastic at this time of year. And the Begonia pic at the last....fantastic. I'm pretty new here and just read this blog from start to finish, really good.

Hi Outlander, Nice of you to make such lovely comments on my garden. As you say, Hypericum are lovely at the moment, they do make a lot of mess as the flowers start to drop, but so what, I grumble because it hangs over my path and I'm always sweeping it up.!! Also, the begonia is gorgeous isn't it. I am wondering if it would be ok to put it outside now.
