About me

My name is sandy, generally known as cassymac, due to my home run business where I do handmade cards and write then frame verses. I also hand wire tiaras and construct bridal bouauets and wedding flowers. I am married with one son and two step-children. My son and step-daughter are both married with eight children between them!! My step-son and his partner have a total of 10 children!. Five of these children are blood related the rest are step-children. Technically this makes me a Grand-Mother to 18!! Needless to say I collect my bus pass this year!!! I have always been arty and love flowers but my interest in the garden only started when I had my first house. I live in Herne Bay Kent where my garden is not large but not small and I spend hours whiling away the time just picking off dead blooms, taking cuttings and watching things grow. I don't have much know how on cuttings so I tend to stick to plants that don't take much specialist knowledge. However there are times whn I would like to try something new but don't know where to start and I don't have a greenhouse, so I will probably be on the site quite frequently asking for advice on how to!!
At the momentI am trying to figure out how to take care of a beautiful begonia over winter or indeed how to take cuttings (the easy way). Unfortunately there were no name tags when I bought it so I couldn't even begin to guess as to what species it is but is has the most outstanding large salmon coloured blooms and quite large veined leaves but not what I would call metallic (although what would I know??). I would love to be able to see it in the garden again next year. At the moment it is still in full bloom. If there is anybody out there who can give me some advice on how to over-winter the tubers or to take cuttings I would be very grateful.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
