Now that the borders are finished,we decided the shed roof needs re felting..or rather,Russell did.!It has been leaking in ,but we couldn’t really pinpoint where. So,seeing as we have used all the water in the butts, with this lovely warm weather..today was an ideal opportunity to make a start tomorrow.
All the water Butts are now cleaned out, along with downpipes, filters and guttering…guess who has been a bit of a scrubber today ?? Lol. Your’s truly.!

It was just too nice to do inside work,as I’m sure you will agree..so I was quite happy to be out there..and now have a sense of satisfaction, that the plants will have some nice clean water, whenever it rains again.:o)
Well, must go and sit out with another cuppa..even had breakfast outside today,it is so warm, but not complaining..Lovely ! :o)

There is always something to keep us busy, good job done there, very neat and tidy too!!!

they look great - we are going to invest in some more - I have never known such a dry April though especially when followed by a parched March - and the heat is like July today

Its great when you can get the dirty jobs done and dusted. Like you Bloomer spent most of the day painting bits of fencing and trellis. Emptying winter pots ready for replanting and general maintenance. Also like you have got two empty rain buts that are desperate for filling, but could we have the rain during the night please as I`m getting used to these mediteranian days.lol.
You`ve got some nice colour in the bit of the garden we can see.

Well done ... I've added this to GoYpedia Water Butts :o)

Really like the work in progress all set out ready to go!

I had breakfast at 6.30 this morning, but couldn't enjoy it outside only 6c at that time!

I've been waiting since August for the next peice of guttering to go on the shed, but I won't hold my breath it took 4 years to put plain paper in the kitchen, the paint is still in the cupboard! LOL!

19 Apr, 2011

Yes it's very warm. Glad you're making the most of it :o))

19 Apr, 2011

Thanks Grandmage,I quite enjoyed doing it..as long as I'm outside,I'm happy.:o)
Thanks Paul.We wish we had room for the big ones, but they wouldn't have fitted either side of the shed,as I also have my compost bin there as well..but better than nothing, and amazing how much you can collect
via guttering on the shed.
Thats nice of you,thanks Terra...:o)
Lol 6d, glad I had the gravel to do it on,as I would have struggled !:o)
Thank you,Helenium..ooh,that was chilly!
This morning I actually slept till 7.30am,,ages since I did,as sometimes its very early,..too early !
Hope you get the guttering done soon, you will have to show your OH this Lol..a gentle hint :o)I'm very lucky,as Russ doesn't mind doing things..he knows who will feed him Lol.
We have to make the most of it Hywel, don't we ? We have been stuck in the house far too long this year.:o)

19 Apr, 2011

Lie ins are just great, Sunday mornings are the best!

I usually get OH to shift when I say.. I think we should get someone in to fix this or that, then...it gets done! One time he was adament that he could sort something, which invoved a very sharp chisel, I said we could just get the handyman in, nope.. he'd do it! Well he did something alright, but it was a trip to the local hospital for seven stitches in his hand! I phoned the handyman next day, pronto! LOL!

19 Apr, 2011

Oh dear,Helenium, that sounded painful..Better to ring the handyman, before you tell him you want a job doing..!Lol.

19 Apr, 2011

Absolutely..!Lol!

19 Apr, 2011

Scrubber indeed! Made me laugh ... did the water butts have much silt at the bottom? I've put an old Popsock around the 'in pipe' to trap any muck! Just means I hop a lot now ........

20 Apr, 2011

Great tip ShirleyT!

20 Apr, 2011

Glad it made you smile Shirley.:o),and no,there wasn't much silt at all.. letWe bought a proper filter with the first waterbutt, but couldn't find one anywhere for the second,as they seemed to have stopped selling them seperately, only in a kit...so,thinking caps on..I found an old little sieve/teastrainer ,languishing in cutlery drawer,so Russ fashioned one, using that. Eureka ! It has worked well.:o)..Sorry you are having to hop..I might have an odd popsock lurking about..but it might not be your colour...Lol.

21 Apr, 2011

Lol, Bloomer! Good bit of recycling with the tea-strainer .......

21 Apr, 2011

Morning ,Shirley..Somehow,I don't think we would have ever used it again..remember the loose tea? so glad teabags were invented ! The roof is finished..and looks good.it was so hot doing it yesterday,so only the guttering and Butts to go back, this morning..and then chill out time ! He has earned it :o)

21 Apr, 2011

Shirley my Nan used to that too, but it was a nylon stocking in those days. Lol!!

21 Apr, 2011

Your garden's looking lovely Scrubber AKA Bloomer! The weather here has been brilliant too, I just hope it continues into the long weekend when I'm off :o))

21 Apr, 2011

I don't even drink tea, can't bear the smell of it! I hope your butt is back in the right place ... lol! ...
Gm, nylon stockings, there's a blast from the past! : o )

21 Apr, 2011

No such things as popsocks then, Lol. :~)

21 Apr, 2011

Bloomer about the loose tea! I remember I made Mum up a hamper for Christmas and in it were all of her favorites like, Dundee cake, hams, blue cheese etc. She never drank coffee, but really liked her cup of tea, so I included a box of teabags. When I went next visit, Mum made a cuppa and also used the strainer which I thought was rather odd, so I said have you finished those teabags already? No she replied this is them, she had only opened all the teabags and emptied the contents of each bag into the tea caddy! Bless her old fashioned cotton socks! lol!

21 Apr, 2011

Love it Helen, they were ever resourceful !

21 Apr, 2011

That they were Grandmage, that they were!

21 Apr, 2011

Lol,Annella, you cheeky monkey..and I didn't stop there ! did some more scrubbing..a few paving slabs as well.!

Oh,someone else to lower the tone! are you in cohorts with the above cheeky monkey ? Lol.My Butt is exactly in the right place,Shirley..and not too near the ground either ! .How would I be able to use the watering can, otherwise ??? Lol.
That is funny,Helenium..bless her.My Auntie was a bit like that, when the first antibiotics came out..remember the ones with all the tiny balls in a see through casing? she opened it up,as she thought she had to take one at once..Lol.She told the doctor,he may as well have given her a box of smarties, for all the good they were doing !

21 Apr, 2011

Lol! Poor Auntie! I tried to think of something else to say but I'm still laughing! What are they like!

21 Apr, 2011

I still laugh at the thought as well,Helenium..she was a real comic...She also thought she had to wear her Gas Mask all the time, at the start of the second World War.so went to town on the bus, with it on..We have laughed a lot athat one!and so did she, when the conductor told her it was only to be worn when the sirens went.Lol.

22 Apr, 2011

Oh dear, that's a shame (says me that's laughing). I'm glad she saw the funny side of it all though! LOL! If we all collected our funny stories and put them in a book we'd have enough material to have the whole of Great Britain laughing! Or maybe a tv comedy!lol!

22 Apr, 2011

I've just been reminded of the time my Mum used water retaining gel crystals in a hanging basket for the very first time. She didn't follow the instructions correctly, put ten times too much in and we all jumped when the basket started popping and exploding after she'd watered it! Bless her . . . . .

22 Apr, 2011

Aaaaaaaaaaa haaa haaaaa haa haa! That's dreadful I shouldn't laugh!lol!

22 Apr, 2011

Go ahead ... we fell about laughing when we realised what was happening! : o )

22 Apr, 2011

I laughed out loud too..I can just picture it ,and the expressions on your faces :o)Oh,and if any of you lovely people are starting to get touches of grey hair at the front..do NOT try gravy browning to cover it up,like my mum did ! Unless you like an orangey/brown shade, that won't wash out !
I couldn't believe it,when I came home from work one day,and saw this vision...we laughed so much, and so did she..wore a hat for ages after,as she couldn't afford to go to the Hairdressers,to have it done properly..:o)

22 Apr, 2011

Well done on getting the water butts and shed felted, all you need now is a drop of rain, only at night though, lol.
Laughing my head off at all the happy funny memories.....

22 Apr, 2011

Did it thicken her hair up though? .......

22 Apr, 2011

Thanks Lincslass, its been a busy week, but lovely to be out there in the sunshine.glad you are enjoying our bit of humour..daft,aren't we ?Lol.
Lol,Shirley..:o).Strangely, no ! but I almost got a thick ear for laughing !

22 Apr, 2011

: o ))))

22 Apr, 2011

Bloomer, I'll never look at gravy in the same way again! I know if that were me, every time Mum asked if I wanted gravy I'd have to stop myself from laughing, but I would'nt dare say, yes.. but on my plate please! LOL!

23 Apr, 2011

job well done both of you, im hoping to get a butt to this year once the shed area is cleared.

23 Apr, 2011

Lol,Helenium..much better on a plate :o)
Thanks San,Its amazing how much you collect off the shed roof, via guttering.we have an overflow on one of them as well,so it goes into a border,so not wasted. If you do decide to get one ,get the biggest one you can fit in..I am just sorry we only had room for 2 small ones...

24 Apr, 2011

think i will only fit the slender ones there but two would fit ok.

25 Apr, 2011

It will still be a good help,San..go for it :o)

25 Apr, 2011

yes your right :o))

25 Apr, 2011

Does anyone remember who put a pic or a blog on about connecting 2 water butts? I just can't think who it was . . . . .

25 Apr, 2011

THere is a pic on Water Butts and Barrels ,no.36 if that is any help ,Shirley, which shows 3 connecting. Not sure if this is what you mean, but you could flick through them..

26 Apr, 2011

Thanks, Sandra, that's exactly what we're thinking of doing. Why didn't my brain think about looking through the Goypedia? It's tired out . . . . : o )

26 Apr, 2011

Lol,Shirley..can't believe,I thought of looking there either ! My brain must be connecting this morning..just like the Butts .:o))
