autumn

It rained heavily this afternoon, and by the time we left the house after the rain stopped, it was late evening. As such, we brought the kids to a small park.

This is our first visit, and we didn’t even know it existed until I saw JJ’s pictures.

They have some lovely orchids

Apart from the orchids, there are some other lovely plants which caught my eye.

Here’s 1 beauty which takes the shape of a butterfly. I’ll be thinking of this plant for a long time … Blue Butterfly Bush (Clerodendrum ugandense, Family: Verbenaceae)

This is the Hibiscus Sabdariffa (Roselle). Over here, most people just call it the “ribena plant”. (We wash the fruit, remove the seed case which holds so many seeds and boil the fruit with rock sugar, and it makes a nice drink …. ) [we dumped some seeds into the soil last week, but with the heavy downpour the past few days, those seeds probably got washed away in the rain]

There are some lovely touches i like ….

Not this one, though

There’s a good size play area for the kids to amuse themselves while the plant lovers admire the leaves, the caterpillars (there are heaps), the layout ….

This place certainly calls for a repeat visit.
