A visit to Berlin and a little backlog

I have been away for a bit. Just a week from home but longer from blogging.

Before I left, there was a bit of a panic in the garden. The week promised to be blazing hot. All the borders have soaker pipes, and I wanted to install one to the new border next to the patio. Brought it, installed it, forking off from one of the old soaker pipes. Realised that the timer wasn’t working. Decided to leave the tap on by turning it a very minute degree. Turned out that was a lot for the new soaker pipe, but no water at all was coming out of the old ones. Hadn’t realised that the pores of the old pipes were blocked so badly. Went about piercing tiny holes all along the old pipes till 10 in the night. Shifted all the potted plants to the shady corner deck. Result – came back to a happy looking garden. And of course plenty of weeds.

Thanks Louisa, but some parts of the border are already just green. Usually the gaps are filled by pelargoniums, but this year they have remained small.

Hi Anujag - all looks very healthy. Had similar panic going on hols...

Soaker hose was set up for our new hedge but my 72 piece irrigation kit for pots (which seemd like a good idea at the time!) was just too daunting...72 pieces, what was I thinking of....??
Luckily the in laws came to house sit and watered it all.

Love your chill out decking area with the relaxer chair, looks a lovely spot to relax

Thanks Sarah, I love the decking area. I have the best view of the garden from there but I remain hidden from neighbours. Only problem is, it is at the far end of the garden, and everytime I want to sit there, I have to carry the cushion, remove the spider webs, come back again for book and tea :)

72 piece irrigation set! If you start installing in spring, you may get there by summer :))
