On Saturday I visited Louis’ open garden with Mariek (Marie). The weather was very overcast but still warm so we had a pleasant walk around the three open gardens in the Avenue.
Our first stop was to meet Louis and explore the garden that we have seen many times on GOY. I’m afraid that I didn’t take many photos as the light levels were low and we spent most of the time chatting.
There are lots of lovely pots all around the garden and I really liked this wall display, it felt like being on holiday in Spain.

I loved these Apple ornaments too

This is Marie and Louis taken by the fountain in the courtyard garden

There were lots of other visitors waiting to talk to Louis so we moved on to the second garden. You would never have guessed from the front of the house that there was a mini jungle behind it.

Look at this Hosta bed…not a bite mark in sight!

The garden was well planted with lush tropical beds and winding paths leading you through them.

It had started to rain by the time we got to the third garden which had more of a woodland feel to it, so no more photos were taken.

We had a lovely afternoon out and and Louis has told me that they raised £3036.00 over the weekend for a local hospice which is brilliant at £3.00 a visitor.

Taken in the Taverna at the bottom of Louis’ garden ;O)

I’m so glad I met up with Marie, it’s been lovely to have a gardening friend this summer and all thanks to GOY x

The Hostas were perfect and Cristina is right they were all in pots closely placed together. I think they must slug hunt every night!

I would love to visit too...what an amazing pair of gardens and imagine....a Taverna at the bottom of your garden...ooh, I'm getting ideas! ;)) I'm not surprised you ended up there Annie and Marie! The Hostas completely fooled me though, I never suspected pots...I wonder what is there through the winter. I sometimes wonder what these tropical style gardens are like in the winter...they are so beautiful and lush, but I would hate to have a bare garden for 8 months of the year....and it would be 8 months up here of course. Lovely to visit though, thanks for taking the photos! xx loved the apples!

I didn't mention the poly tunnel come green house at the bottom of the second garden where they were selling amazing tropical plants for £5.00! And Karen there were a lot of plants and trees in there that look tropical but would be hardy, a very clever garden. Marie and I fell in love with it although it's really not our sort of garden style. The overhanging trees were Robinia one of my favourites and I'm sure the Palms do well overwinter in such an enclosed space.
Ps I bought a beautiful Chain fern for £3.00 and Marie had a good spend too.

Thanks again Anne, you can always come around again during the week sometime to have a further look, now that you know where my garden is.

I'm sorting out the greenhouse already, ready for the cold weather.........What a thought, but we have to be one step ahead, hey!!!!! :-)
I'm off to Kettering now, to do a big garden, can't wait to get my hands on that !!!

Take Care and Thanks Again :-)

Super pics Ann - the gardens were great weren't they - especially the 2nd one which was just like a tropical jungle in parts with uch lush plants - how on earth do they do it ?

So nice to have met someone else with the same interest and who I get on so well with - just shows what a good site GOY is and what good friends you can meet.

Great gardens. Thanks for putting the pictures on here Annella. Have added to favourites so that I can look at them again over winter (always need something to cheer me up then).
