Little surprises

The wind has been so strong here all weekend that I still have had no chance to get out in the garden and tidy up. Yesterday I went out and watered lots of my pots, most of them were bone dry after no rain and the high winds. I had a walk around and noticed lots of baby Aubrieta plants! They have never self seeded for me before and some of them are 8 years old now. There are even seedlings in some of the hardy geranium pots that I planted up from divisions in early autumn. It cheered me up to see all my new freebie plants and will be interesting to find out what colours they are when they flower.

These are some of the ones I have in the garden

Aubrieta ‘Kitte’

Aubrieta ‘Bressingham Red’

Aubrieta ‘Agneta’

I’m hoping some may be like ‘Agneta’

Aubretias are beautiful aren't they. One of the highlights of my spring, when we lived in Dundee, was a neighbour's garden which was on a very steep slope at the front. It had been made into a terraced rockery and in the spring the purple aubretia would cascade down the slope and then amongst all of that there were hundreds of red and yellow tulips all standing up straight...what a wonderful garden that was in the spring! Isn't it lovely that they have finally decided to produce babies! Can't wait to see what they will be like, don't forget to take pics!
