Allotment Part 6.......Picked our first produce!!!

The allotment is progressing well and everything is growing!!!!!…picked our first raddishes today…but forgot to take a pic….tsk

The dahlia beds are now dug, edged and manured ready for planting….sometime over the next 10 days or so.

The gooseberry bush has some fruit on it….enought for a mini crumble!!
One of the blueberries has some flowers on and the morello cherry has blossom out.

The strawberries are flowering away and have been covered with a net……they are for me…..not the birds !!!

First early potatoes are growing well and the main crop are showing. A cage has been put over the cauli/cabbage/sprout plants….as the local pigeons have a tendancy to pick them to pieces.

The carrots, onions, beetroot, garlic and leeks are all growing well as are the runner/climbing beans. The peas are very slow and some haven’t germinated so I’m bringing some on in pots in the propagator..

The tomato plants are in the greenhouse and growing well. The new compost bin is up and a flower border dug beside it…..to pretty up the area.

I plan to grow a clematis against the shed and a border for flowers beneath.

After the currants have fruited,….the bushes are coming out….they are old and haven’t been looked after properly…..the area beside them has been sprayed….lots of nettle, docks and couch grass to deal with!!!!…..May put a polytunnel there…..haven’t made up my mind whether to have one yet.

Another bed is planned in front of the shed……I would like to plant some scented shrubs etc., to enjoy while we are sitting in the sunshine…..when it shines that is!!!
