Eureka!

Yes, I’ve finally done it……I took the afternoon off to spend some quality time in my shed. I planted some seeds, did a bit of weeding and tidying and put in some bulbs – yes I know I’m a bit late putting the bulbs in but it had to be done and it’s the first opportunity I’ve had with the weather and work getting in the way. Only another 25 years til I retire then I can (hopefully) spend ALL DAY in the garden! Only 25 years!!
I have thoroughly enjoyed it today, the sun was out and the wind had dropped sufficiently not to be blown from one side of the garden to the other. Feeling quite proud as I washed my hands at the kitchen sink, I surveyed the hard work, back now aching but with a sense of achievement!

Now I know what space I have, I feel a trip to the garden centre is on the cards for the weekend. Plus, with a birthday looming in a few weeks I have asked hubby for something nice to go in the garden….not sure what yet? Suggestions welcome.

I’ve bought the newly planted seeds indoors, washed out the little propergators and positioned them on several window ledges around the house. The house will probably now be overtaken by me and my seeds – it gives me someting to do indoors every morning before I set off for work without having to put my wellies on. I’ll be checking on their progress every day and nurturing them ready for the garden.

It’s been ages since I planted something but I have had my ‘hit’ for the day and it’s now time for feet up and a bit of quality time on GoY. I’ll keep you up o date with new pics as the seedlings emerge…..can’t wait.

I work in an office, 9-5 Monday to Friday and occasional Saturday mornings so evey moment I am in my garden is like a trip to Heaven! I'd love nothing more than to be out in mine or someone elses garden all day, even when it's raining! If I could earn the same (or more) money out in the garden as I do in the office, I'd looooooooooooooooooooooove it!

Great day today wasn't it. We were in Dorset this weekend in Tincleton and we went to Lulworth, lovely. I did the same, I spent all, well most of the day in the garden pulling down a hedge which has got loads of bramble, dead shrubs and is about 6' wide, I think I am doing it at the right time, I don't think there are any birds making nests. I haven't had the time or the room for seeds this year as we have moved and I'm not really set up for seed sowing at the moment, I look forward to seeing your rewards soon

Greenfingers - how about a lovely double Hellebore for your birthday? My new one has a flower on it and I just love it! Garden Centres have lots of Hellebores in at the moment.
Glad you got outside at least for a while - the bulbs may be late flowering but you'll still get lots of pleasure from them!

I'll be sure to tell you all what I choose for my birthday - so much choice. A Hellibore would be gorgeous, but unfortunately with my slug and snail problem I lost two lovely Hellibores last year. They had beautiful flowers and shiny green leaves, they looked fake! I might try them again but in a different position maybe? With barbed wire and a mine field around them to protect them from all and sundry! No doubt photos of the new arrival will appear on here...Vouchers are a geat idea too, but I'd like to choose a plant or maybe a sculpture for the garden. I like those fancy armillary sundials but I've just checked out the prices - gosh! Alas, so much choice....just under 4 weeks to go so gotta do some research as to what's available locally. Watch this space...
