That's great Gee :o) More room for plants is a wonderful idea, and you'll have less mowing to do :o)

Oh, to be on flat ground.

Great conception to achievement.

17 Feb, 2012

Thanks, Hywel.
Can't get much flatter than the edge of Romney Marsh, Severnside, but we do have a little hill about half a mile outside the village :)

Ha ha, excellent ;)

I really like what you are doing...looking forward to an update! I'm currently lifting turf to form a new border.
I love the way your path goes through your garden

17 Feb, 2012

I really like what you have done so far Gee19, will be looking out for more developments in your garden :)))

17 Feb, 2012

I can't believe all that energy in such cold conditions! It's going to look great when you've got everything growing, Gee. Actually, it's looking pretty good already.

17 Feb, 2012

I agree, what a difference already. Looks great.

17 Feb, 2012

Another great blog and pics,Gee..I love the effect of what you have done..about your turf..I was the same, but dug down in the borders and laid it upside down,to rot naturally..it worked for me,especially as the soil settled anyway, after making a border..and bulked it up a bit..just a thought..if you aren't fed up of digging !:o)

17 Feb, 2012

Thanks you all for your encouragement. I am finding it hard going but am enjoying it too. I thought I could put some of the turf, upside down, into the raised veggie boxes, Bloomer. The clay is so thick that it is quite diffficult to dig down very deep :(

17 Feb, 2012

You've been busy Gee, its looking great, look forward to seeing what you plant in the new borders :-)

17 Feb, 2012

That's made a real difference and makes your garden look bigger! I did something similar a couple of years ago and it was hard work (for me, anyway). But definitely worth it. More plants. Less grass. Always a winning formula.
You've done a great job there.

17 Feb, 2012

Look forward to seeing the end result Gee. that is exactly what we did last year and was very pleased we took the bull by the horns!! Your garden is looking lovely, great work there.

17 Feb, 2012

Well done - I love the design it is going to look good when you have planted up - what plants do you have in mind?

17 Feb, 2012

oh it looks fab, love the curvy path its a great design, your hard work has paid off, cant wait to see it in the summer.

17 Feb, 2012

That looks great and I agree that it makes your garden look bigger. I love curves.

17 Feb, 2012

Good idea,Gee..that would be ideal..they don't take long to break down either..I didn't know you were on thick clay..not easy to dig at all..but you have some nice plants,so it seems to suit them..we had lots to dig out here, when we moved in...and builders rubble,as it was a new build...but perseverance and hard graft won ! :o)

17 Feb, 2012

I agree it looks great Gee, you`ll have more colour to admire in the coming months, I like the curves...

17 Feb, 2012

17 Feb, 2012

great blog Gee and a good job you did to, i think it looks alot better with the beds to walk through, hard work taking grass sods up and like you say waiting for them to rot, i sneak a few in green bin so its not to heavy lol
look forward to seeing this in summer planted up :o))

17 Feb, 2012

Big difference already Gee, its looking good. I love the idea of having a path through the flower bed like that. Any plans on what to plant?? Looking forward to seeing it all planted up later in the year.

17 Feb, 2012

It is looking really good already Gee, love the curves I am sure come the summer it will be super and reward all your hard work.

17 Feb, 2012

Well...it's one way to keep warm Gee! It's looking great, looking forward to your next makeover blog:-)

18 Feb, 2012

What an improvement Gee. Now most of the hard work is done, you can have some fun planning what youd like to plant. Its funny how the garden always shrinks in size when I start making lists of what I want to plant!

I like the curved paths very much Gee it will create a lot more interest as the plants grow along side it ... I guess you've been doing Powerpoint again ! I love it , my grandchildren have been staying here and started to show me how to do more of it but they do it so quickly not giving me a chance to take it in and then off they go in the middle of it LOL...

18 Feb, 2012

Thanks for all the lovely comments :)
Yes, Amy, it's Powerpoint again - you'll have to strap the grandchildren down until they've told you all they know :)
My grandchildren are the same with mobile phones - I just can't do texting and they think it's hilarious!

What's so annoying Gill is that the grandchildren that have been here are only 12 and 13 they just seem to know it all without trying , I'm o.k with texting mine is quite an ordinary one ,the mobiles the children have are more like mini computers there's nothing they can't do on them so complicated , i've told them that one day humans will be born with only a head and arms without a body because they only use their fingers .. LOL...

My you have been hard at work, and what an improvement you have made in such a short time, looking forward to seeing the next stage, well done you.

18 Feb, 2012

hi Gee wow very well done a lot of hard work has paid off
i agree with Dotty can not wait for the next stage, :)))

19 Feb, 2012

Great work going on there Gee, I love curved flower beds and also like your idea of a walk through path, when we dug out our little pond I stacked all the turves upside downalong side the garden fence, it did rot down quite quicly and gave me lovey loam to spread around the borders, cary on with the the good work will look forward to seeing it when finished;0))
