Indian Summer ??????
Like to cool nights, hate the hot day

i dont mind winter and dark nights at all, im just surprised how quickly this year seems to be going ~ having said that the snow seems a long way away and so does that sunny april we had!!!

Sorry, Nariz, didn't mean to worry you :) That village paella sounds very tempting, not something that happens in my village, we're more likely to have a vicarage cream tea!

Sorry, Lulu, I can't identify any of the fungi. My little wildlife book wasn't any help at all. I really must invest in something more substantial.

I am really enjoying this summer, sunny but not too hot. We could do with a little more rain as the water butts are nearly empty again but I'm certainly not anxious for autumn/winter to come too quickly.

yes i like the sounds of those village fiestas and paellas. would be good if we had them here but i dread to think what the equivalent would be ??

Maybe the first ones are 'ceps' I will have a look in my book!

Exactly the same things are now happening in my garden Gee. I have never seen any fungi in Garden in July before.
Could it be because of the prolonged dry Spring and the very wet weather which followed?

Sticki & Gee - August is great here - most of Spain closes down for that month and the Spaniards seem to do nothing but fiestaaaaaaaaaa! Every village in this region has its own fiesta days which are sponsored by local restaurants, shops and industries and, if you were well in the know (more so than us!), you could 'do the rounds' for a month and never spend a Euro on any food or drink. Mind you, you'd be heartily sick of paella, sausage, pancetta and red wine by September!

Remind me to book a holiday in Spain next august please nariz!

Gee ... I think Autumn has passed me by as there's a Forget-me-not in bloom in my garden today! . . . . .

31 Jul, 2011

In mine too Shirley!
Let's not forget it is still summer, at least until mid august, with the equinox!

31 Jul, 2011

I have forget me not's and wallflower's out but my Hydrangea has give up, the garden is as confused as me, but we have had a couple of lovely day's weather wise here in Newcastle, cloudy at times but warm :-)

Sticki - you'd better act fast if that's your plan - next August is often fully booked at the end of THIS August!

I couldn't believe it yesterday, when someone said on the radio that it is now Autumn.......surely not! Back to school, toadstools, blackberries, hazel nuts and early sunsets. In a garden slot in The Mail it said 'empty your summer pots and fill with winter flowering plants'. No, please not yet. I can't throw plants away in full bloom. You can get violas any old time, anyway, so why bother so early?
