We found this in our garden on a climbing fushia ,about 4” long and as thick as a finger.Does anyone know what moth/butterfly species please!!

they seem to like my fuchsias too. stunning moths!!!

If it is a Hawkmoth, then i would sacrifice a fushia for that perticular caterpillar.

The photo is rather small but it looks rather like a Hawkmoth caterpillar.It has false 'eyes' as markings on its body to warn off its predators. It is found in the U.K and Northern Europe.
