Lockdown Veggie Growing

I’ve had more time to spend on the plants being at home for such a long time.

We’ve had a few Cucumbers. Only small but do the job.

Lots of tomatoes too. These yellow ones are very sweet and grow on vines like bunches of grapes.

The Beef steak toms are slower to grow and ripen but worth the wait.

We’ve got Cucamelons, my grandaughter loves these.

A VERY old pack of Aubergines just to see if they’d grow and some did.

Giant pumpkins which were meant to be for the great grandchildren but due to shielding I’ve been doing these then sending photos.I know they’re resting on weeds but this was a sort of cushion for them.

Then the chillies! I’ve grown the black Chilli Chenzo for a few years now and they’re good doers but this year I’ve tried Carolina Reaper, supposed to be the hottest in the world, Viper, Moruga Trinidad Scorpion and Butch T. One greenhouse was completely empty so I used this for the chillis. In this heat they’ve thrived even though I water three times a day.

I’m not a chilli lover but have plenty of volunteers to try them and the toms and cues and other stuff in demand too. Everything is passed over my gates wearing gloves but when this is over I’ll squeeze all the family so tight. Yes it’s been a nightmare not going out but it puts it in perspective when you see what some families have gone through plus Whattsap video calls and Zoom have been a godsend. Take care and stay safe all.

I agree, technology has been a godsend in this covid time.
Keep safe, well and keep on gardening....

Well you have lots to show for your isolation, plus the pleasure of having so much to give away. I was impressed that you water your greenhouse three times a day!
