Something is eating the leaves of my geranium, dahlia. and rudbeckia plants, leaving just a lacy leaf. I can't see any caterpillars. Can you help me?

I had this a few weeks back and it was a horrid little leech like caterpillar. I just cut the leaves right back and they came back ok.
