I have a hydrangea which last season gave new leaves only and this year one bloom and the rest leaves can you explain

potted and given feed. Leves are healthy and in semi shaded position. The right soil is being used.

It's too early for these to be putting up buds, the leaves are only just coming out. Leave it for a while, it sounds as if it's doing fine. Feed is only usually given when it's flowering unless you're giving it feed to encourage the leaves? Check the ingredients on the feed bottle.
