soil improvement

I usually plant anything new by back-filling the hole with a mixture of home-made compost, some multi-purpose and a handfull of chicken manure pellets.
I also mulch with compost every year. This adds nutrients to the soil throughout the year.

Do you know what you are going to plant, yet?

well i quite like hostas and heuchera, i also like clump forming plants but i have to be honest i dont have a plan, if i like it i buy it, not the best way really but then again if it doesn't work i can take out and have fun getting more plants.
