Looks like a hollyhock to me

Looks like one to me, too. They do seed themselves quite readily. Do you have hollyhocks elsewhere in your garden, Ajmerrill? Worth keeping, anyhow.

I thought perhaps one of the mallows, as my hollyhocks never seem to get as many leaves [very pointy too compared to my hh] or as green as these. but not long to wait as I spy flower buds :o)

I'm with Seaburngirl - its a mallow of some kind.

M first thought was mallow and second hollyhock - looking at the shape of the flower buds I'd go with the latter, but ask again when the flowers are out.
