I'm not sure what it is, but it reminds me of Basil - does it have fragrant leaves?

Basil was my thought too.

The reddish tinge reminds me of Thai Basil - do the leaves have a slight smell of Aniseed?

I thought basil too however the smell of the leaves are like a weed.

Maybe it is one of your native plants there - in other words, a weed... meaning a plant growing where you don't want it...
