Last year in a bouquet of flowers there where some roses and when it was time to throw them out I pushed one of the rose stems into a finished flowering hanging basket, I have noticed that there is a healthy bud on the stem this year lol should I leave it for a while before investigating to see if there are roots or have a look now. Jackie :o))

It can't hurt to try. My neighbour always comes a-begging whenever I'm cutting my roses back. She just pushes the cut bits into her garden and you'd be astounded at how many of them have taken. She now has more rose bushes than I have.

It might not have made enough root system to move it yet,Ladyessex, but at least it is living..I would leave it in situ, this year..I left mine for a bit longer than a year..but have a little look,to see how it's doing..mine are as big as the parent plant now..good luck :o)

If it is still in the pot water it and then plant it out in the garden with as much soil as possible from your hanging basket. If it is going to live it will thrive there.

Thanks all for your input, I'll lift the lining out of the hanging basket and put it all in a big pot so not to disturb it to be on the safe side, can't even remember what the rose looked like colour wise, never mind I like surprises LOL
