For three years in a row bullfinches have completely stripped all the fruit buds from my 8 year old Discovery apple tree. This year it was covered buds, despite my swathing the tree in black cotton the birds have done it again. The birds dont touch my other trees, Any suggestions ?

Hi Rcwward, I was told to place a net over fruit trees to stop the birds getting at them.

Bullfinches love to pull the buds of fruit trees - I suspect is is a big game to them... can't think of a solution except netting - good luck Rcwward

You can use Scare- a-Web on small trees.
