Where have my Lupins gone?

I have grown lupins quite successfuly for many years both bought ones and grown from seed purchased from specialist growers. They are usually one of the first plants to show in my herbacious border but this year nothing, not one has come up. Any ideas? All my other plants are fine.

It has been very wet, many slugs about and they find lupins very much to their taste
