why have some of my garden tulips changed from pink to white

I planted tulips in pots last year and they were pink in colour. This year some of them have turned to white

tulips have a tendancy to revert back to their commen colours.
i had some whichwere a beautiful purple and last year they turned red, this year they are still red but lovely
