I have a burberis which I cut back quite hard. It is now growing again but the leaves seem to be covered in a white powdery substance. Does anyone know what this is and why it has happened?

Does sound like mildew - not uncommon, its always about. Spray with a fungicide or 1 part milk to 9 parts water in a sprayer.
