when can i prune my cherry trees ?

i have three cherry trees that are four years old in my front garden,i would like ti take off the lower branches to leave more room for planting.what time of year is good for the tree to be prunned? many thanks

Unlike the norm, cherries (and plums - prunus) should be pruned in summer.
