You show MAMMILARIA PLUMOSA as being a New Zealand native: rubbish!! ALL mammilaria are native of Mexico and southern U.S!!!! Where do you get your references I wonder... many american native cacti (all of them to be exact!) have been exported around the world so its easy to find them growing "wild" there. ;-) Serge Grondin

welcome to GoY.
the people on this site are amateur gardeners and we do not profess to be experts. Was this comment in response to a comment left by another member? Or was it from one of the adverts? If an advert nothing to do with the members :o)

Thanks for the info.

I don't know just where you saw that, Grondinca. If it was in the body of this forum then it was definitely a mistake by the gardener who posted it. I think this unlikely as most of the posts are read by other enthusiasts who would have spotted the mistake. If it was in a commercial section of the site then it was a mistake by an advertiser and we have no control over that.

Serge I would normally say 'Welcome to GoY' but in your case I am not so sure... Have you been looking in the Garden centre section of GoY which we happy gardeners have nothing to do with? If so and then you need to direct your comments to the specific grower/advertiser. In all my years on GoY I've not seen any statement as to where this cacti is native to.

the coment was in a blog back in march 2010 by anothergalanathophile [? i think]who was at a plant fair/show. I wonder if the information came from the plant holder's stall.
must say it is unusual for him to get his facts wrong.

Even so there is no need for Serge to be so offensive.

True! More appropriate would have been a gentle statement of the true facts as a comment on that blog. Serge, I recommend that you ease off a bit--we want to be garden friends here, but it is hard to keep friends if you keep lambasting them.

How do I say thanks?
