I wouldn't recommend it, the inks can be toxic. We don't compost newspaper at all.

The toxins have to go somewhere ....... If the paper is re-cycled the toxins are washed out in the process and the resulting liquid is treated to a standard acceptable to the environmental agencies before discharge.
