can you suggest anything to cover a high fence which sits on top of a 4 ft wall and easy to maintain

More information, please - do you want evergreen or deciduous plants, and what aspect is the wall in - shade or sun? What type of soil have you got - acid or alkaline?

Solanum might be worth considering. You can have them with white flowers or purple flowers. As the name suggests , they like a sunny position.

They really do need a sheltered position, don't they - I lost my Solanum laxum this winter. :-(

Evergreen clematis is a good option - the cirrhosa group like 'Freckles' which flowers in the winter.
