hi will spider plants survive outside in a window box all year round?

Unlikely, they are houseplants.

Depends where you live and what sort of winter we have. I had some surplus spider plants and popped them into a flower bed under some roses one year. They lasted several years before the winter before last killed them off.

Houseplants they are, but tough with it. I left a pot outside the winter before last and the roots were still viable although the tops had died back. Worth leaving a plant outside just to see - if you root lots of babies in the autumn you've nothing to lose.
