fast-growing indoor plants?

Hey All,
Anyone have suggestions for fast-growing indoor plants? My father-in-law is going in for major heart surgery tomorrow and I'd like to get him something pretty to look at while he's recovering. I thought it might be nice as well if he could watch it grow day by day.

Answers
The fastest ones I know are Umbrella Plant (Schefflera actinophylla), Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum walisii), Coffee Plant (Coffea arabica), China Doll (Rademachera sinica), and Freckle Face (Hypoestes phyllostachya). All of these need bright light and regular feeding to keep up good health and fast growth. All abuse tolerant houseplants are slow growing.

Some late planted daffodils, should grow quick indoors whilst he is recovering. In the UK, many places seem to have daffodils which were sown a little later, and range from no buds at all to getting ready to flower. Don't know if Canadian GC's would have any.
The ones in my office at work are growing quickly.

Thanks folks! I especially like the Freckle Face (may have to get one for myself as well!) and daffodils. He is an avid gardener so I'm sure will appreciate a bit of green and colour around him.

im surprised no one has answerd you farmgirl as that is a nice idea . im bye know means an expert but i dont think many conventional indoor plants grow especialy quick but dont count on it . you should put young maidan in distress and youd have lots of answers lol .
