hi i have a row of conifirs witch are to fast growing i need to replace them with somthing that will make a great hedge that is quite fast growing and grow to 6ft to 8ft high they will be north west facing any segestions thanks

Sunshines, if you plant anything fast growing, it's likely to do the same as your conifers and refuse to stop at 6 feet! What you could do is to plant hedging and keep it pruned. Beech makes a lovely hedge, for example - either copper or green. It keeps its dead leaves on during the winter, too, and the new leaves are always a joy.

There are plenty of choices, but you'll have to be patient, I'm afraid. If you want 'instant', have you thought of a fence with a trellis on which you could train climbers?
