Cordylines, Phormiums etc wrapped in fleece...
Following advice on here to wrap my Cordylines etc this year, I just wondered this morning if they need to be unwrapped occasionally when the temperatures warm up a bit? Someone suggested yesterday that they might rot if wrapped up continuously? Am I being over-concerned? I know bubble wrap is not a good idea, except around the pots themselves, but that comment is niggling away at me now!
Thanks for any comments!

Well our temperature hasn't reached the dizzying heights of 0 yet never mind going positive!

We were -9 last night and -1 at the moment so I will just dust off the snow and wait for the anticipated rise of a few degrees over the weekend, Spritzhenry! These temperatures don't compare with Scotland, of course...I'm so glad I'm not up there now, MG!
Stay safe and warm!

with some plants like cordilines you can cover the crown and leave some leaves some leaves sticking out the top for the odd sunny day ha ha lol .

If it ever gets warm again then personally, yes I would unwrap them to let them breathe a bit but make sure you don't forget to wrap them up again if necessary! I would only unwrap though, if the temp went up and looked as if it was going to stay that way for a reasonable length of time. :-)

Glad you said that, Noseyp . . . my precious one is tied up and wrapped in fleece with its crown cosily covered up, and I'd been wondering about the 6 inches of leaves pointing out at the top. I'll relax for now (we're -2 today).

I did say 'IF', MG! ;-/ We got to zero today for oooohhh - at least an hour! The forecast is for a rise to +2 tomorrow, with any luck. I might unwrap my plants if it does - just for an hour or two.

LOL...I remember NP advised leaving some leaves sticking out...and so I did! However, I didn't uncover them today as temperature didn't rise above -1. Apparently, it is going to rise a few degrees over the weekend...I won't hold my breath!

I tied my plants up with twine and put them in a plastic frame tent can anyone tell me if I should keep watering them in this cold weather, -5

Don't water when the temperature is below freezing the plants can't take up the water in any case. I'm not sure your tent will give the needed protection from the cold Mrsr

I had that advice last year, Izzy, and I do try to unwrap the fleece from the various wrapped up plants IF the temps get above freezing - just for a few hours, then back it goes. I think they appreciate it.
