i have recently noticed i have dry/dead patches on my lawn but only on these parts are a red web like patches. dose anybody no wot these r?

Yes, it's a disease called 'Red Thread' which is a symptom of a starved lawn. It isn't fatal and to help your lawn to recover, feed it in the spring. Good luck.
