African violet (Saintpaulia is its proper name) is a houseplant and, as such, carries on growing and flowering intermittently. Is that the plant you mean?

I have several plants of African Violets in our kitchen window which faces West & they have lived there for several years. Being long day plants they flower best during the summer into autumn but, as Bamboo says, they will continue to throw up a few flowers all year round.
